DIY ebike update

There is a cheap and easy fix to the problem. Grin Tech of Canada offers a $35 solution that spreads the load across the down tube (see attached photo). According to my friend John at Roscoe Village Bikes, my frame will be ok.

I bought the most expensive and heavy battery available for my ebike project. Unfortunately, the battery was too heavy for my old bike. While driving to an Evanston bike club ride I heard a loud noise from the back of the car. Note the two new holes below the S in Soma. That’s where the battery used to be.

My bike is at least 20 years old and despite sporadic use of rust repellant it appears that the rust bug has settled in.
