This week we take what I anticipate will be the longest Brewpub ride of the year, to Pho No. 1 Brewing Co. at 7958 West Belmont. Estimated distance is 35 miles.
Beer Notes: There are currently eight beers on tap, as well as an Asian Pear cider. In order to give you guidance, I have sampled four of them, the Viet Lager, the Pale Ale, the dry hopped IPA, and the Porter. All were well made and tasty, I thought the lager and porter worked especially well with the pho. These beers are unique in that they include ingredients specific to Vietnamese cuisine. The other beers on tap feature a coffee and milk stout, a mango/pineapple pale ale, an Oktoberfest, and a Sour Brown Ale.
Dining Notes: The menu is comprehensive, but alas, they do not serve Bánh mì. The pho is as good as most places on Argyle in Chicago, and a massive serving. There are also vermicelli noodle dishes, fried rice, and other specialties. The best online menu I could find is here: Order Online

This is a city ride; there are two blocks on Thatcher that are quite bumpy, so bumpy that I recommend that no one who consumed a full serving of pho ride particularly quickly! We will wait for people before we turn east on Montrose. We previewed this ride yesterday, and got a reminder that the City of Chicago does not warn about impending construction, so we do need to be flexible should we encounter new construction.
The current weather forecast calls for temperatures in the 70's for the entire ride.
I'm looking forward to seeing who is brave enough to try beer that contains lemongrass! Ron
